— Prairie Village, Kansas —
Retirement planning that begins with a conversation about the life you are planning for.
— Where we start —
Do I have enough money to retire?
It is an important question. It is not the best place to begin.
Before discussing strategies, allocations, or claiming dates, it helps to understand what you want retirement to look like. Your goals. Your priorities. The life you are planning for. It is easier to talk about how to get somewhere once you have decided where you want to go.
That is why every new relationship at CFG Wealth Management begins with a Purpose Conversation.
— The Purpose Conversation —
Many financial conversations begin by talking about investments, account balances, or retirement dates. Those are important conversations. They are simply not our first one.
What do you want your money to make possible? We spend the first meeting learning about your goals, your priorities, and what you would like your financial future to help you do.
When you schedule, an email arrives with a link to a short Purpose Conversation Guide. It takes about five minutes to complete, and many people say it helps them think about retirement differently before we even meet. If you have time beforehand, wonderful. If not, we use it as the starting point.
Income, taxes, Social Security timing, and investments all follow from what you are trying to accomplish. Once your purpose is clear, the options become much easier to evaluate.
— What we do —
CFG Wealth Management works with pre-retirees and retirees across Johnson County and the wider Kansas City area. Each service below is one part of a plan built around your goals.
Turning what you have saved into income you can plan around, with a withdrawal sequence designed for your situation.
Understanding why you are making the decision before deciding when to claim, including spousal and survivor considerations.
FERS, TSP allocation and rollover questions, and how federal benefits coordinate with the rest of your retirement income.
Reviewing employer plan options and consolidating old accounts so your retirement savings work as one plan.
Portfolios built to match your risk tolerance and time horizon, reviewed against your plan rather than against headlines.
Roth conversion analysis, required minimum distributions, and withdrawal order. This is not tax advice; we coordinate with your CPA.
Beneficiary review, titling, and coordination with your attorney so what you have built passes the way you intend.
Fixed insurance products offered through licensed carriers, evaluated in the context of your overall income plan.

— Social Security —
Search online and you will find articles, videos, and calculators telling you when to claim your benefits. Some suggest taking them as early as possible. Others recommend waiting until Full Retirement Age, or until seventy. Those resources can be helpful, but they all start in the same place. They focus on what you should do.
Two people can make the exact same claiming decision, and it can be right for one and wrong for the other. Not because the rules are different, but because the people are. The lives they are building are different. The priorities they are protecting are different.

— Your advisor —
LaMont Chandler is President and Chief Executive Officer of CFG Wealth Management in Prairie Village, Kansas. He works with individuals and families who are approaching retirement or already in it, and he is personally involved from the first conversation through every annual review.
He describes his approach as having the heart of a teacher. Before recommending anything, he works to understand where a client stands today and what they are trying to build, then explains the options in plain terms so the decision belongs to the client.
