— Our approach —
Every relationship at CFG Wealth Management begins with a Purpose Conversation. Here is what happens in it.
A Purpose Conversation is the first meeting at CFG Wealth Management. Instead of opening with balances or retirement dates, it starts with what you want your money to make possible.
If you are like many people, meeting with a financial professional can bring a mix of emotions. You may be excited about the future, uncertain about a few things, or simply wondering what to expect. If that is you, you are not alone.
Many financial conversations begin by talking about investments, account balances, or retirement dates. Those are important conversations. They are simply not our first one.
Before we discuss numbers, we would like to understand something more important. What do you want your money to make possible? That is why our first meeting is called a Purpose Conversation.
— How it works —
An opportunity for us to learn about you, your goals, your priorities, and what you would like retirement, or your financial future, to help make possible.
A short Purpose Conversation Guide takes about five minutes to complete. Many people say it helps them think about retirement in a different way before we even meet. If you have time beforehand, wonderful. If not, that is perfectly okay. We use it as the starting point.
Income, taxes, Social Security timing, and investments all follow from what you are trying to accomplish. Once your purpose is clear, the options become much easier to evaluate.
— Why we start here —
Ask most people what the first retirement question is and they will say the same thing. Do I have enough money to retire? It is an important question. It is not the best place to begin.
It is easier to talk about how to get somewhere once you have decided where you want to go. Until we understand what matters to you, and why it matters, it is difficult to know whether any recommendation truly supports the life you are trying to build.
Why is retiring early important to you? Why is leaving a legacy important to you? Why does a steadier monthly income give you clarity? Why is protecting your spouse so important? Those answers change the shape of a plan more than any market assumption does.
